Mission

Seattle Visual Arts Studio offers an extraordinary studio art program for young beginners to aspiring adults through year round classes and workshops. Our class provides each students the skill, encouragement and a positive environment to explore and develop their natural creativity.

The overarching themes of our studio art courses are:
Observational drawing to train their vision
Art history to explore possibilities
Discussion and critique sessions to talk about their own work as well as others’ work.

Founding Artist and instructor

Shruti Ghatak is the founder and instructor of the school. She is a practicing artist and educator who exhibited nationally and internationally. Shruti has been teaching in Seattle area for a long time across many art institutes and museums. Apart from teaching from her own studio she also teaches at Pratt Fine Arts Center, Kirkland Art Center and North Seattle College. Shruti has taught several classes and led workshops at Seattle Art Museum, Seattle Asian Art Museum, Amazon, Microsoft, Dale and Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum and Museum of Flight.

She received her Masters of fine Arts (MFA) from New York Studio School, NYC and her MS in Organic Chemistry (specialized in Color Technology) from Institute of Chemical technology, Mumbai. She has an interdisciplinary background and studied both Science and Art with the belief that crossing boundary sometimes open up new way of seeing.

Classes and workshops

We offer year round Visual arts classes and workshops for students of all ages and ability. In person classes are offered from the Studio at Shoreline, WA

If you live far you can join ONLINE One-On-One or small group classes. 

Interactive live Online classes are offered through ZOOM. The instructor guides many students across the globe. Send an email to enquire more and schedule your class.

Classes range from absolute beginner to master level. Class sizes are kept fairly small to ensure maximum individual attention.
