SUMMER STUDIO FOR YOUNG AND ADULT ARTISTS!
Aspiring artists of ages 10 and up will have the opportunity to develop artistic skills and vision to foster their creative expression. Expect a solid work and joy-filled workshop of Acrylic landscape study, overflowing with sequential exercises, interesting experiences and experiments, and quite a bit of color theory. All art materials will be provided. We will discuss and learn from examples of old and contemporary master painters. Learn or refine your skills using washes, glazes, multiple layers, lifting techniques, wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry methods.The instructor will work with everyone individually throughout the workshop and will draw and paint alongside the students.
Expect to go home at the end of the 6 week session with tools of a lifetime and couple of ready to hang paintings! The workshop is for beginning and intermediate students; those who haven’t began painting and those who want to improve their painting skill.

If you like exploring nature and love being out in the landscape, this is a class for you! In this 6 weeks workshop students will be guided through the process of developing landscape paintings. I will work with the students individually, in a hands on, step by step fashion guiding them from start to finish and focusing on the aspects of the process. They will also learn to break down the approach of painting into fundamental elements of drawing, composition, value and color. Principles of paint handling and proper use of material, will go hand-in-hand with building skills to render landscape paintings progressively from simple to more complex.
The workshop is for beginning and intermediate students; those who haven’t began painting and those who want to improve their painting skill.
At the end of the workshop students will go home with ready to hang works of their own!

This is your opportunity to learn in a small class size with individual instructions and critique from a professional artist. Anyone above age 10 can join.
Program hours: Fridays 6:30pm-9pm
Mediums/ Materials: We will be using different drawing mediums (pencil, charcoal) and acrylic paints as painting medium to create paintings on canvas. So you can imagine it’s going to be messy. Please dress accordingly. All materials are provided. At the end of the workshop students will go home with ready to hang work of their own!
Instructor Shruti Ghatak holds an MFA in Painting from New York Studio School and an MS in Color Technology. She is a practicing artist and has exhibited nationally and internationally.
